Expanded Lineup of IPS LCD Modules for Medical Monitors
- Development of 21.3-inch High-resolution (5 Megapixels) Monochrome LCD Module and 29.9-inch Widescreen WQXGA Color LCD Module -

Hitachi Displays, Ltd. (President: Yoshiyuki Imoto, hereafter referred to as Hitachi Displays) has developed a 21.3-inch high-resolution (5 megapixels) monochrome LCD module and a 29.9-inch WQXGA color LCD module, using IPS-Pro technology that features improved brightness, contrast, and viewing angle. The addition of this monochrome LCD module for mammograms and a large widescreen color LCD module further strengthens our lineup of IPS LCD products for medical monitors.

With the progress of IT in the medical field, there is an increasing need for high-quality and high-resolution medical monitors. High-resolution displays of 5 megapixels (2,048 x 2,560 pixels), which provide the greatest volume of information, are required for mammograms in particular, to detect microlesions that might indicate breast cancer.

The newly-developed 5 megapixel monochrome LCD module uses high-transmission IPS technology, and features a high resolution to achieve a maximum brightness of 1200cd/m2, a contrast of 1200:1, and improved image quality even when viewed at an angle. In addition, the use of 10-bit display drivers and 3 sub-pixels allows presentation of details required for reading mammograms.

With our new large widescreen color LCD module, medical professionals who have been using two 2 megapixel monitors together at the same time can now replace them with this single 4 megapixel monitor. This allows a large volume of information to be displayed on a single screen, for the easy comparison of data. In addition, the use of 10-bit display drivers allows detailed images in 1 billion colors.

The newly-developed high-resolution monochrome LCD module and 29.9-inch WQXGA color LCD module will be on display at FPD International held at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex from November 10 to 12.
