JDI respects the lifestyle of each employee and actively adopts systems such as work-life balance support and telework so that career development can be achieved regardless of life events such as child-rearing and caregiving. JDI has introduced enhanced systems beyond what is legally required, and without waiting for legal revisions, to contribute to making it easier and more fulfilling for employees to work. JDI also has a labor-management agreement (Article 36 agreement) on overtime (overtime work) and holiday work, and JDI is working to reduce long working hours by regularly educating managers on labor laws related to the Article 36 agreement and internal guidelines for working hours management.

In addition to our headquarters, JDI has centers focused on research, design, and development and fabs. Each location has its own unique features. For example, the Ebina R&D Center has a health management area with exercise bikes in addition to a break room to promote employee health.   • Work-Life Balance Support System

    JDI has introduced a system for working from home to support balancing work with caregiving, nursing, child-rearing, and medical treatment, in order to allow employees to continue working while doing these activities.

  • Systems Regarding Working Hours

    To realize diverse and flexible work styles and secure personal time for employees, JDI has introduced a flextime system and an hourly paid leave system. In fiscal 2022, we introduced a working hour interval system with the aim of securing employees' personal and sleep time.

  • Teleworking System

    In order to improve work-life balance and productivity, JDI has introduced a telework system from fiscal 2018. In fiscal 2020, we revised this system and adopted a work system that combines office work and telework in parallel.

  • Refresh Leave Accumulated Annual Paid Leave System

    JDI encourages a balanced work style by providing refresh leave every five years after the fifth year of service, and accumulated annual paid leave, which allows employees to accumulate unused annual leave, to promote employee refreshment.

  • Introduction of Side Job Guidelines

    Starting from April 2021, JDI has allowed employees to have side jobs with the company's permission, with the aim of promoting flexible working styles, improving personal skills, and creating synergistic effects on company performance through side jobs. Currently, only some side jobs are allowed, but we plan to gradually expand the range of permissible side jobs in the future.

By implementing Management by Objectives on an individual basis, JDI clarifies work challenges and supports employee skill development by checking the results achieved as well as the development process. Once a year, JDI has employees file a report on their self-awareness about their career, future hopes, satisfaction, and so on. In addition, superiors hold interviews with their subordinates, which serve as opportunities to realize mutual understanding and help to establish a culture of collective thinking about employee career development.

In order to provide opportunities for employees to actively demonstrate their abilities, JDI has made the internal recruitment system, which was conducted irregularly, a permanent feature from fiscal 2023. This system aims to promote more proactive and flexible career development for employees and foster a more adventurous and striving organizational culture.

JDI offers various self-improvement programs to ensure that all employees have educational opportunities and to actively support those who are always eager to learn. In our self-improvement encouragement fund system, we provide an environment that meets various employee needs, such as various schools, distance learning, and recommended books, and support autonomous skill development. In our qualification acquisition support, we have set more than 180 qualifications as targets and support employees in acquiring qualifications. In addition, aiming to cultivate human resources who can discuss and co-create with researchers from our customers and business partners on an equal basis, we established a degree acquisition support system targeting doctoral degrees in fiscal 2018, and from fiscal 2020, we have expanded the support targets to professional degrees (MBA/MOT, etc.) and are working on producing highly specialized human resources who can be active both inside and outside the company and contribute effectively to our business and management.

The 'Work Style Reform Related Law' has been implemented in stages since April 1, 2019, but JDI has been establishing and revising various systems for work style reform since before 2018. While it is of course important to be a company that is easy to work for, we also aim to continue being a company where work is fulfilling. We review our systems almost every year and revise them as necessary. The following are some of the systems we have established and revised to create a fulfilling work environment. Improved Vacation Credit Acquisition System We have revised our system to make it easier to take leave by easing the requirements for taking leave.
