Japan Display Inc. Establishes New Office in Detroit Metro Area
- Enhancing Support for Automotive Market in Conjunction with Business Expansion in USA -

June 12, 2014 (Tokyo, Japan): Japan Display Inc. (President and CEO: Shuichi Otsuka, JDI), a leading global supplier of small- and medium-sized displays, will establish a new office of JDI Display America, Inc. (President and CEO: Atsuhiko Tokinosu, JDIDA), a sales subsidiary which covers the North and South Americas markets, in the suburban area of Detroit, Michigan, USA in June 2014.

The adoption of JDI's IPS* technology, which enables an upscale look for a vehicle's interior due to its deep black, high-contrast performance, will expand in the USA automotive display sector. By establishing the new office with expert technical staff stationed on a full-time basis in this "automotive capital of the world", JDI Group will enhance its service to automotive OEMs, their suppliers, and the automotive electronics ecosystem. The office will also work together with JDI's System R&D in Japan, JDIDA's head office in San Jose and its other branch in Chicago to respond to the evolution of automotive electronics.

Automotive applications represent a display market with great potential, growing significantly in all regions of the world, not only due to the increase in the number of vehicles themselves but also due to the increasing number of displays per vehicle. In the automotive sector, characterized by an accelerating trend towards high-function displays, JDI Group keeps responding with its outstanding LCD displays and matching production capacity. Along with JDI in Japan and JDI Europe GmbH in Germany, the customer support structure in USA-Japan-Europe will be enhanced globally. In conjunction with the expansion in the U.S. market, JDI will increase its automotive display sales more than twofold from FY2013 to FY2018.
